UNAPPROVED REDDING TOWNSHIP MEETING MINUTES

 

JUNE 16, 2014

 

 The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm followed by the pledge of allegiance

 All Board Members present:  Supervisor Krchmar, Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Ashbaugh, and Trustee Mann.

 Guests: Linn Prunden, Carolyn Pruden, Dave Gruber, Marlene McGlashen, Commissioner Majewski, Sargent Humphrey and State Senator Judy Emmons.

 

Guest Speaker’s:

Clare County Commissioner:

Dale reported the next foreclosed land auction for Clare and Gladwin County will be held on September 2nd at the Doherty Hotel. The books will be available at the Clare County Treasurer’s office starting June 15th.There have been reported cases of measles throughout the U.S, mostly in Ohio- 68 in the Amish Community. Clare County reported one case of bacterial meningitis, Beal City reported one case of pertussis. Central Michigan District Health department received an excellent Accreditation report.

 Renee Haley has been selected to escort WW II Veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the Memorial Wall they will be traveling there and back in one day. Honor Flight selected two Veterans from Clare County to go on the trip.This will be the first time Central Michigan has been selected.

 

Clare County Sheriff:

Sargent Humphrey asked when calling about ORV complaints to call the Clare County dispatch and not to leave him a message, Dispatch can handle the complaints more quickly. Supervisor Krchmar asked about how many inmates they can house in the jail, Steve responded they can hold up to 200 inmates but they like to keep it at 191. They’ve been keeping the jail full from the State of Michigan and surrounding Counties.

 

State Senator Judy Emmons:

Senator Judy Emmons introduced herself. Judy will be serving Clare County. Ms. Emmons spoke about her mother being a township clerk from the 1960’s until 2012; she assisted her mother serving as her deputy clerk. Judy has served in the house senate for (3) two year terms.

Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve the minutes was made by Trustee Mann and supported by Trustee Ashbaugh. All Board Members in favor–Motion carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

The treasurer’s report was reviewed as read, Treasurer Gruber commented on the Treasurer and Clerk balancing every month.

 

Correspondence:

(48) Sheriff incidences were reported and (1) brush fire.

 Committee Report

Pot Luck dinner will be June 21st. Last month was canceled because of a water leak at the hall.The Boosters Club is having their breakfast July 5th.

 

Old Business:

Township Hall floor:

The floor was stripped and waxed it’s now finished.

Blight:

Sargent Humphrey is handling the complaint on Dewey Street.

Sanitation Contract:

A Motion was made by Treasurer Gruber and supported by Clerk Borgula to approve the contract with Waste Management.

All Board members in Favor- Motion carried.

 Cemetery Ordinance:

The Cemetery Committee had a meeting on June 3rd and made some changes to the ordinance, Clerk Borgula will make the corrections and bring it back in July for review.

 

Township Hall Address Sign:

Commissioner Majewski donated a new address sign for the township hall and the Board thanked Dale for his donation.

Deputy Clerk QVF Class:

Jim McBurney went to Lansing to learn about QVF (Qualified Voters file

 

New Business:

Close out old budget as of June 30th and adopt the new budget as of July 1st 

A motion was made by Trustee Ashbaugh and supported by Treasurer Gruber to close out the current budget as of June 30th.  All Board members in Favor- Motion carried.

A roll call vote was called by Clerk Borgula to approve the new Budget effective July 1st All Board members voted yes 2014/2015 Budget adopted.

 

Approval to have the Clerk go for Election Certification:

A motion was made by Treasurer Gruber and supported by Trustee Ashbaugh to approve up to $259.00 for travel expenses. All Board Members in Favor- Motion carried.

The Election Board set a date for July 8th at 7:00pm to appoint the new election inspectors.

Election Preliminary test date will be July 14th and the Public Accuracy will be July 21st. Both will be at 11:00am.

 

Township Hall Supplies:

Clerk Borgula explained to the Board there are 10 gals of wax left over and 6 gals on back order

She inquired about exchanging the back ordered wax for hall supplies. The board approved the transaction.

Cemetery Flag:

A motion was made by Trustee Mann and supported by Trustee Ashbaugh to purchase a new

Flag for the Cemetery. All Board members in Favor- Motion carried.

 

Public Comment:

Lake George is having a Car show on June 21st. Clare County Sheriff’s department will be there to support the event.

 Approval of Bills:

 Check # 2388 -2412 and payroll equaling $7742.78

With voided checks 2403, 2404, 2405(checks left in printer) A Motion was made by Clerk Borgula and supported by Treasurer Gruber  All Board members in Favor- Motion Carried.

 

With no further business

A motion to Adjourn was made by Clerk Borgula and supported by Trustee Ashbaugh
