                                Approved Redding Township Board Meeting                                                                                                     August 20, 2014

 

The meeting came to order at 7:00pm followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Board Members present: Supervisor Krchmar, Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann, and Trustee McGlashen.

 

 

 

Guests:  Dave Gruber, Linn Pruden, Carolyn Pruden, Jerome Burger, Lynn Brown, Bob Schaible and Donna Schaible.

 

 

 

Guest Speakers:

 

 

 

Dale Majewski – Clare County Commissioner:

 

 

 

Dale gave his report on medical insurance options for Clare County employees. If Clare County stayed with the same plan currently offered, there would be a 22% increase in cost to the county.

 

 

 

Clare County Board of Commissioners adopted the 2014/2015 budget for the county.

 

 

 

Sargent Steven Humphrey-Clare County Sheriff’s Deputy:

 

 

 

Steve will be starting a new weekday rotation. He will be on duty Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

 

 

 

There have not been any leads on the minivan and bicycle accident that happened in Lake last month.

 

 

 

 

 

Correspondence:

 

 

 

Clare County Sheriff‘s report had 48 incidents in Redding Township.

 

 

 

Harrison Fire Department had 1 assist with a Medical Emergency.

 

 

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes:

 

A motion was made by Treasurer Gruber and Supported by Trustee Mann to approve July 16, 2014 meeting minutes as read. Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Waste Management Sanitation Contract:

 

A Motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to accept the five year contract. Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Treasurer’s Report:

 

 

 

The Treasurer’s report was given.

 

 

 

Treasurer Gruber informed the Board she has been working on updating and fixing some of the issues with Redding Township’s web-site. 

 

 

 

Clerks Report:

 

Clerk Borgula reported on the August Primary Election. She said some changes were noted on the lay out of the hall. David Gruber mentioned he had read in the newspaper that Redding Township was the only township that didn’t transmit the election results. Clerk Borgula said a telephone landline needs to be put in so the results can be transmitted as soon as the polls close on election night.

 

 

 

 

 

Tire Update:

 

Supervisor Krchmar reported on the tire recycling at the Middle Branch Township Hall. In a four day period there was a total of 7681 tires from 16 townships. Redding Township had 216 tires. Supervisor Krchmar thanked Linn Pruden and the other two people who helped residents take tires from their vehicles.  

 

 

 

Committee Reports:

 

The next Pot Luck will be September 20, 2014.

 

 

 

Activity’s rummage sale will be October 16, 17 and 18.

 

September 1, 2014 thru November 11, 2014 there will be a food drive to make Thanksgiving Baskets for the people in Redding Township and surrounding areas. Donations will be accepted at Redding Township Hall or contact Sandra Mann for more information.

 

 

 

 DNR Update:

 

On July 24, 2014 the DNR hosted an open informal meeting at the township hall. It was mainly for timber cutting in 2016. They also answered other questions pertaining to State land.

 

 

 

Cemetery Equipment:

 

A roll call vote was taken whether to sell the equipment as is or to get the equipment in running condition.

 

Supervisor Krchmar, Treasurer Gruber, and Trustee Mann – voted to sell them as is. Clerk Borgula and Trustee McGlashen -voted to get them in running condition.

 

A date was set for September 6th. From 10: 00 am – 12:00 pm to have a silent auction Supervisor Krchmar volunteered to be at Fernwood Cemetery for the two hours. A minimum bid of $500.00 will be on the John Deere tractor.

 

The equipment will not be allowed to be started before they are sold. Clerk Borgula will post the silent auction on Craigslist. Trustee Mann will borrow some letters for the Activities sign in front of the hall and Treasurer Gruber will post it on the township’s website. A motion was made by Trustee Mann and Supported by Treasurer Gruber to sell the cemetery equipment on September 6th. Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 

 

 

 Hall Rental Deposits:

 

Tabled until next month, Clerk Borgula will send all the Board members the hall rental agreement to review.

 

 

 

Telephone Line for the Township Hall:

 

A motion was made by Trustee McGlashen and Supported by Trustee Mann to allow $50.00 a month for a telephone landline in the township hall. Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen  – Motion carried.

 

 

 

Office Supplies:

 

A motion was made by Trustee McGlashen and Supported by Trustee Mann to allow up to $300.00 in office supplies without Board approval. Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 

Supervisor Krchmar suggested Treasurer Gruber purchase her stamps for taxes on her own and be reimbursed with Township funds if she chooses to buy them without board preapproval.

 

 

 

Cemetery Tree Removal:

 

Three bids were given to remove 3 dead trees in Fernwood Cemetery. The lowest came in at $700.00 from Kelly’s Tree Service.

 

A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to have Kelly’s Tree Service remove the trees. All Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashan- Motion carried.

 

 

 

 Hall Attendant:

 

A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Trustee Mann to accept Tom Corwin’s contract for a $100.00 a month to maintain the inside of Redding Township Hall. All Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

Approval of Bills:

 

Check# 2436-2458 and payroll taxes of $381.76 equaling $12,854.00 (check # 2435 was voided.)

 

A motion was made by Trustee Mann and Supported by Treasurer Gruber. Board Members in favor –

 

Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 

With no Further Business – A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Treasurer Gruber to adjourn the meeting. Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried at 10:18 pm.
