                                  Unapproved Redding Township Board Meeting                                                                                                        September 16, 2014

 

 

 

The meeting came to order at 7:00 PM followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Board Members present: Supervisor Krchmar, Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann, and Trustee McGlashen.

 

 Guests:  Dave Gruber and Carolyn Pruden

 

 Guest Speakers:

 

Dale Majewski – Clare County Commissioner:

 

Introduction of new Dist. #5 County Commissioner Don David and new Clare County

 

Road Commissioner Julie Lightfoot.

 

Clare County Emergency Management division performed a Mock Disaster train derailment on Wednesday. USDA grant of $30,000 was awarded to senior Services for new kitchen equipment for the Harrison location meal site.

 

 

 

Correspondence:

 

Clare County Sheriff‘s report had 66 incidents in Redding Township.

 

 

 

Approval of Meeting Minutes:

 

A motion was made by Treasurer Gruber and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to approve August 20, 2014 meeting minutes as read. Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 

 

 

 Treasurer’s Report:

 

The Treasurer’s report was given.

 

Treasurer Gruber informed the Board she will be not attending October’s meeting.

 

 

 

Committee Report:

 

The next Pot Luck will be October 18, 2014.

 

Activity’s rummage sale will be October 16, 17 and 18. September 1, 2014 thru November 11, 2014 there will be a food drive to make Thanksgiving Baskets for the people in Redding Township and surrounding areas. Donations will be accepted at Redding Township Hall or contact Sandra Mann for more information.

 

 

 

Cemetery Equipment:

 

Supervisor Krchmar held a silent auction at the Fernwood Cemetery for the lawn equipment on September 8th. The riding tractor sold for $550.00, quiet blower $150.00 and small misc. equipment.

 

Totaling $820.00.

 

 

 

Hall Rental Contract: 

 

The rental contract was reviewed and decided it was worded correctly.

 

Treasurer Gruber questioned the liability regarding blowup play equipment.

 

It was decided to check with the insurance agent and bring back the information next month. 

 

 

 

Audit Proposals:

 

Two proposals were summited for the 2013-2014 Audit.

 

AHPA CPA & Advisors and Baird, Cotter & Bishop, P.C.

 

A motion was made by Trustee Mann and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to accept Baird Cotter & Bishop’s proposal.

Motion carried.

 

 

 

Tire Recycling:

 

Middle Branch Township Clerk contacted Supervisor Krchmar and invited Redding Township to participate in the tire recycling next summer. All the Board members agreed it would be a good idea to except the invitation. 

 

 

 

Township Hall Lights:

 

Three proposals were summited for upgrading the lighting in the hall parking lot.

 

Mark Heckman summited the lowest estimate.

 

A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to allow up to $500.00 to

 

Install motion lights under the hall canopy, change the bulbs and adjust the lights and in the parking lot.

Motion carried.

 

The Board discussed if it was cost effective to upgrade the lighting to LED around the outside of the building. Clerk Borgula will review the budget and bring back the information at the next meeting.

 

 

 

Waste Management:

 

Supervisor Krchmar asked the Board members what they thought about going from 8 -8 yard canisters to 7-8 yard canisters. All the Board members agreed to reduce the use of the one canister. Clerk Borgula will contact Waste Management.

 

 

 

Public Comment:

 

Supervisor Krchmar requested snow plowing bids be put on the next month’s agenda.

 

 

 

Approval of Bills:

 

Check# 2459-2471 and payroll taxes of $381.74 = $6598.97

 

A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Treasurer Gruber.

 

Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen Motion carried.

 

 

 

With no Further Business – A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to adjourn the meeting. Board Members in Favor – Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried at 8:23 PM.
