9-16-2015 Meeting minutes






September 16, 2015




The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm.


Followed by the pledge of Allegiance.


Board members present: Supervisor Krchmar, Clerk Borgula (Absent), Treasurer Gruber, Trustee Mann and Trustee McGlashen.


 Guest: Linn Pruden, Carolyn Pruden, Dale Majewski, Maggie Borgula, Dave Gruber, Bob & Peggy Hoard and Nancy Scarbrough.


 Guest Speakers:


 Dale Majewski:Clare County Commissioner,


Equalization clerical position will be opening. Other Townships are complaining about Waste Management Recycling not showing up and / or showing up full. Dale asked if Redding has had any issues Linn said no. The County Commissioners voted to give a 7 % pay increase to employees and a $6500.00 pay increase for the County Clerk, Treasurer and the Director of Equalization the total cost will come in at about $60,000.00.


 Tire Recycling


Peggy Hoard:  Middle Branch Township,


Peggy said this was the third year for the tire recycling program and the second year for Redding to participate. This year Redding had 20 semi, 991 car tires and 33 rims.Sixteen Townships participated they had over 10,000.00 tires for June and July. The recycling center is working on trying to get equipment to shred tractor tires. Peggy explained the process in receiving a grant to recycle tires. Middle Branch is gearing up for 2016 tire recycling and if Redding is interested in participating she will need a letter or an email stating it. Supervisor Krchmar said he will ask Clerk Borgula to draw up a letter when she returns. Peggy said the people who volunteered from Redding did a great job.




Sheriff’s incidents

Motion to approve August 15, 2015 meeting minutes.


A motion to accept the minutes was made by Trustee McGlashen /Trustee Mann. With the change of tire recycling from June totals to June and July totals. All in favor Motion carried.


 Treasurer’s Report:


80% of people have paid their summer taxes. So far four people have used the electronic payment system for their summer tax.




Thanksgiving Dinner will be on November 21st at 4:30 pm w/ Potluck. Donations for Thanksgiving baskets are needed. Activities partners with the Booster’s club.Possible December 19th. Holiday party.


Generator outlet:


$610.00 to install an outlet for a generator Dave asked if FEMA or any other program can help pay for the outlet. Tom stated it was looked into and there’s nothing available. With no further discussion it was tabled until further notice.


Township Hall Damage:


Treasurer Gruber reported damage from the lawn mowing service has damaged the siding on the building. Supervisor Krchmar stated he had talked to the lawn service about being more careful about it a year ago. Dave Gruber asked if you can put a trim board around the building. Supervisor Krchmar stated you can remove the siding and put aluminum around the bottom. A motion was made by Treasurer Gruber/ Trustee Mann to spend up to $600.00 to replace the bottom of the Township Hall building with aluminum. All in favor- Motion carried.


 Tree Quote:


Supervisor Krchmar said he’ll get a quote for the removal of dead trees in the Cemetery. 


Siren Repair:


$150.00 to look at the siren that includes the first ½ hour with further discussion the Board didn’t feel it’s worth repairing again. Dale Majewski knows some communities that might be interested in purchasing it. A motion was made by Trustee McGlashen/Trustee Mann not to repair the siren. All in Favor- Motion carried.




Transfer Satiation Attendant:


Linn Pruden will be retiring November 15, 2015. An opening has been posted and all bids are due October 1st.  A Special Meeting will be set to look at the bids and to interview the people.


Trustee Opening:


Trustee Mann last meeting will be November 18th. The Board will post the opening in the near future.




Public Comment:


Nancy Scarbrough said to be on the lookout for a black Dodge truck with a red tool box on each side. The person pulled up to her house thinking she wasn’t home. Other people have reported the same thing. Supervisor Krchmar asked if she reported it to the police she said yes. Also some suspicious activity has been going on cook road. In the early morning hours. Nancy is also interested in the trustee position. Peggy Hoard thanked the Board for letting her speak Supervisor Krchmar thank Peggy for all she has done.


Approval of Bills:


Checks #2705-2722 and payroll withholding equaling $6382.87

A motion was made by Treasurer Gruber /Trustee McGlashen.

All in Favor – Motion carried.

Motion to Adjourn– Trustee Mann/ Treasurer Gruber at 8:27pm.
