Redding Township Meeting Unapproved Minutes

January 15, 2014

The meeting was called to order at 7:00PM followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board Members Present:

Treasurer Gruber, Supervisor Krchmar, Clerk McBurney, Trustee Ashbaugh, Absent – Trustee Mann

Dale Majewski County Commissioner District #1 spoke on the following topics:


Rick LaBoda was elected County Commissioner Chairman and Dale Majewski was elected Vice-Chairman.

Courthouse security training has begun for all employees. All departments will be trained in what to do during a variety of emergency situations like tornadoes, lockdown procedures, fire extinguisher training, self-preservation and protecting the public.


Clare County Prosecutor, Michelle Ambrozaitis, published a listing for every Township, City and Village stating the number of criminal cases for each one. The range of years was 2009 – 2013.


Michigan is considering a bill requiring front license plates on cars and trucks. This legislation is a safety issue because it will improve the effectiveness of traffic cameras. Sheriff’s Department

No one attended the meeting.

Treasurer’s report was reviewed.



Sheriff Incident Report was presented.


Fire Department – None


Waste Management sent the recyclable schedule for 2014.

Old Business:


Spartan Stores – Sales and Use Tax Certificate – completed.


Redding Township EMD Plan – Back burner issue to keep in mind.


Electrician Overview of Hall Lighting – Back burner project

New Business

1.) BOR – Training for three people on February 27, 2014 will be held in Mt. Pleasant, MI. The review in March 2014 is to review assessment cards, clerical errors and homestead exemptions. July and December reviews are for poverty and veteran exemptions. No review of assessment cards.

2.) BOR Dates – March 4, 2014 Organization Meeting – 5:00pm

March 10, 2014 (Monday) 9:00am – 3:00pm

March 11, 2014 (Tuesday) 3:00pm – 9:00pm

March 13, 2014 (Thursday) Final Review with assessor 9:30am

3.) A six month review of budget verses actual expenses was discussed and completed. No fiscal problems are evident at this timeframe.

4.) East and West exit doors were adjusted so they close properly. The front door needs fixing to close properly.

5.) W-2 tax forms were completed and distributed to employees. 1099 tax forms need to be printed out and mailed.

6.) Township tax forms were completed and filed with the government. (941 monthly, 941 quarterly and 944 yearly)

7.) Cemetery record software. Back burner project. Expensive and time consuming.

Public Comment

1.) Redding Township website will be changing in appearance. Presently, it’s being tested.

2.) Dave Gruber will attend Clare County Road Commission to make a request for Cook road to be paved.

Approve Bills:

Checks (2289 – 2293 Voided)

2294 – 2306, 9998(taxes) in the amount of 4,946.09.

Motion made by Treasurer Gruber and second by Trustee Ashbaugh. Board members in favor: Trustee Ashbaugh, Treasurer Gruber and Clerk McBurney. Motion carried.
