Unapproved Redding Township Board Meeting

March 18, 2015

 

The meeting came to order at 7:01 pm followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Board Members Present: Supervisor Krchmar, Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber and Trustee McGlashen.

 

Absent– Trustee Mann.

 

Guests: Carolyn Pruden, Linn Pruden, Dale Majewski, Dave Gruber, Dale Pierce, Kimberly Davis, Mort Meier, Rayon Raymond, Sgt. Aron Miller. 

 

Guest Speakers:

Dale Majewski – Clare County Commissioner:

Dale discussed the upcoming Ballot Proposal on May 5th. The County budget is on track. They will start working on the next budget in April.

Mort Meier – Superintendent of Marion Public Schools: A school millage will be on the May 5th. Ballot. Mr. Meier gave a presentation on how the money will be used if the millage is passed.

Sargent Miller- Clare County Sheriff:

Sgt. Miller stopped in to introduce himself and asked if anyone had any questions.Clerk Borgula asked if anything could be done with the farm animals that are wandering on other properties. Supervisor Krchmar asked if they have had an increase in break-ins on vacation homes Sargent Miller said not yet but it will be picking up when people come up to their vacation homes to find them broken into this Spring.

Correspondence:

Clare County Sheriff‘s report had 23 incidents in Redding Township.

Approval of Meeting Minutes:

A motion was made by Treasurer Gruber and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to approve the February 18, 2015 meeting minutes. Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer Gruber reported 87% of property taxes were collected for the 2014 Tax Year. Taxpayer’s who paid with a credit card was just under $7000.00. Treasurer Gruber is trying to find a way to collect on a personal property in the township. She heard it was being sold and is trying to find how to collect it before they close on the property.

Clerk’s Report:

Clerk Borgula purchased a new scanner for $75.97 and will need to get postage stamps.She has it on the check register for approval. 

Board of Review:

Supervisor Krchmar reported they had a good turnout. They did give one 80% poverty exempt. Supervisor Krchmar and Dave Gruber thanked the volunteers for furnishing the meals.  

FOIA Resolution:

A roll call vote was called by Clerk Borgula to approve an updated Freedom of Information Act Resolution.

Supervisor Krchmar –yes, Clerk Borgula – yes, Treasurer Gruber –yes, Trustee McGlashan –yes

Resolution # 1210 is adopted.

Tire Grant Dates:

Supervisor Krchmar said recycling dates have been extended this year June 18, 19, and 20th. July 23, 24 and 25th . The Clare County Sheriff's Department will be providing workers to help. Supervisor Krchmar will bring back more information next month.

 Internet Service:

A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Treasurer Gruber to pay ISP Management a onetime fee of $169.00 to install internet service with a monthly fee of $32.95 and up to $65.00 for a router for the township hall.

Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

Budget Workshop:

Supervisor Krchmar reported the board had the budget workshop. The Supervisor, Clerk and Treasurer will be receiving a $50.00 increase a month. The Board of Review Board and the Election inspectors will receive a $2.00 an hour increase. The budget has been increased to $108,600.00. The wage and budget increases will be effective July 1, 2015. 

 

Budget Adjustment:

A motion was made by Clerk Borgula and supported by Treasurer Gruber to transfer $700.00 from Township Board account to Elections account, to cover extra expenses created by additional Election in May 2015. Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

Public Comment:

Linn Pruden –the Transfer Station will be open on Easter April 5th.  

 Approval of Bills:

To approve check #2573 -2595 and payroll equaling $6771.00. A motion was made by Trustee McGlashen and Supported by Treasurer Gruber. Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber, and Trustee McGlashen – Motion carried.

 With no further Business:

A Motion was made by Clerk Borgula and Supported by Trustee McGlashen to adjourn the meeting. Board Members in Favor- Clerk Borgula, Treasurer Gruber and Trustee McGlashen. Motion carried at 9:08 pm.
